Who We Are

Our Mission is to offer hope and support to children with chronic kidney disease and their families. We provide prevention services, educational programs and group activities that empower Kidney Kids to take charge of their health, embrace their future, and achieve lifelong success.

Our Vision is to empower Kidney Kids to achieve lifelong success by learning to manage their own health through access to education, prevention and support programs. We envision for NW Kidney Kids is to be self-sustaining, well recognized in the community, and respected by other agencies, organizations, and individuals. We will pursue our mission through our Kidney Camp, Blood Pressure Monitoring and Networking opportunities. We anticipate expansion of our programs to support and serve children with chronic kidney disease.

Meet our Board of Directors

Suzanne Billings, MSW, LCSW, Board President
As a pediatric social worker for kids with kidney disease since 1999, Suzanne has been a champion for the empowerment of these children and their families. Bringing energy and zeal, she helps encourage the team around her.  Involved since the start, Suzanne was succeeded beloved founder Dr. Jenkins and has served as Board President since 2013.  When not enjoying time with kidney kids, she may be out nurturing her garden.

David Rozansky, MD, Ph.D, Board Vice President
Dr. David Rozansky, a respected pediatric nephrologist passionate about caring for his patients at Doernbecher, has been with the Board since its infancy in 2007. Not only does David give us depth and insight as a physician treating children with kidney disease, he owns one of the most impressive collections of kid-friendly neck-ties ever assembled. He lives with his wife Elana in Lake Oswego, proud of his two sons and an avid, intelligent sports fan.

Tim Moore, CPA, Board Treasurer
Our Board enthusiastically welcomed Tim to the team in 2013. As a skilled and hip CPA (yes its possible) he brings vital skills and financial wisdom as our official Treasurer. Tim’s personally connected to our mission through the life of his young son Camden and is proud to be part of his posse. He lives in Camas with his dynamic wife Carmen, and Camden’s two older sisters.

Cory Roletto, Board Secretary
Cory followed his wife's example and joined our Board in 2013. As a successful local media design business owner, he brings both technical knowledge and leadership expertise to keep our social media sharp and our practices sound. Perhaps his best contribution is as a donor dad to a kidney teen, Anthony, the eldest of his three busy boys. Cory faithfully serves as our official Board Secretary.

Sheriff Dan Staton
"Sheriff Dan," the decorated, dedicated leader of Multnomah County since 2010, with over 25 years of service – partnered with us in 2014. Dan's enthusiasm for life, his courage to face challenges and unwavering support make him an especially inspiring Board member. Part of Dan's appeal is his ability to identify with our youth through his own personal journey. A husband, father and pillar in our community – all make us honored to have Sheriff Dan on our team.

Lance Puffer
Lance has navigated a fast-paced career in the pharmaceutical world for the past 17 years. He offered his talents and rich background steeped in knowledge of renal disease early this year. His networking, connections and fundraising savvy are already paying big dividends. We appreciate Lance's vision to bring hope and happiness to the kidney community through service and hard work. When he's not on the road, or running on one, he lives with his wife and five children in SW WA.

Sharon Su, M.D. FAAP
Dr. Sharon Su is the division head of the pediatric nephrology group at Randall Children's Hospital & Clinics. Professionally and personally engaging, Sharon's valuable investments to her patients and families speaks volumes to the contributions she makes to help us reach our goals. When Sharon's not engaging with the kidney kid community, you may find her scaling mountains around the globe.

Sharon Fleming
As our newest addition, Sharon brings a welcomed enthusiasm and fresh perspective. A persuasive professional realtor by day – and an always tenacious parent advocate for her daughters – Sharon's energy and ideas are already making an impact on our Board culture. Mother to an accomplished college age mentor with kidney disease, her daughter Alex is becoming a valuable volunteer as well.

Meet our Staff

Jill L Brown, MPA , Executive Director
Jill has over ten years of experience working within the non-profit setting including both fund development and direct services. With her undergraduate in Community Development and her Masters of Public Administration, she has practical training that is helping Northwest Kidney Kids to better serve kidney families. Perhaps what qualifies her best is that she is a mom of five year old who battles kidney disease and in September 2013 she donated one of her kidneys to her daughter. Contact: jill@nwkidneykids.org

Amy Hiestand, Administrative & Volunteer Coordinator
Amy joined Northwest Kidney Kids in February of 2016 as the Administrative and Volunteer Coordinator. With several years of experience in volunteering for various organizations, Amy brings her expertise to Northwest Kidney Kids in hopes of expanding the volunteer base. When Amy is not helping Northwest Kidney Kids, she is the mother of two very energetic and happy boys. Her eldest son is a Kidney Kid, making her experience similar to other parents experiencing CKD with their children. Contact: amy@nwkidneykids.org
